In Kolkata visit any store in local market you will not be able to avail any discount, apart from the usual Chaitra Sale discount, Rath Yatra discount on making charges of Jewelery in most jewelry stores. But the Mall culture has invariably brought big discounts to our discount-loving Indian folks. True, that we Indian love discounts. So it is quite common now that people wait for 'end of the season sale' in the big brands. Is it genuine. From my experience it is genuine. Stores like Pentaloon give upto 50% discount in its end of the season sales, like during monsoon or during March and they incoporate other brands like 109 F, All etc in their discounted merchandises which come lower to almost half the price.
